Stump Grinding
Deciduous trees such as maples, cherries, poplars, dogwoods, and mulberries tend to sprout again from their stumps. Evergreen trees with thin leaves or needles generally do not sprout after removal.
Tree stumps can be unattractive and take up needed space. They can cause damage to lawn mowers and form hazardous obstacles in the yard. The depth to grind will differ for various situations, such as landscaping plans, construction needs, etc. Depending on the requirements of the area, we can grind the stumps to grade in order to mulch over, 3” to 4” deep for grass, or up to 18” deep for planting or construction needs.
Stump grinding is cost effective and conducive to your landscaping goals. The area can be immediately regained for its next use. An added bonus is the excellent mulch created by the stump grinder that we encourage you to use around your gardens, flowerbeds, and base of other trees. We do not recommend placing new trees directly on top of where large stumps have been removed. Replanting elsewhere will help to ensure proper root development of your new tree. Each stump location is unique and we would be happy to offer suggestions where this may be your desire.
Stump Grinding is the art of removing those unsightly stumps. Sometimes this is also necessary in order to break ground for a construction project or plant another tree in proximity. We can get our machines into extremely tight spaces to remove those stumps. Please call Northern Woods Tree Service at (703)528-2056 for a free stump removal estimate.
